I have gained a greater understanding of english and realize how difficult a language it must be for foreign students to learn. A lot of patience and understanding is needed with students. An english teacher needs good understanding and knowledge of the subject. I am going to keep the units in a folder and will refer to them as needed (which will be often, at first!). It is also important to develop rapport with students and to find out what their interests are as this can help immensely with planning interesting lessons. Creating fun lessons can really help to motivate students. Games are really necessary! I am going to start making more games and activities as they are always good to have for fillers. A teacher needs to be well-prepared and keep good records. I learnt how to do lesson planning and I intend to use lesson plans in all of my lessons. It is really imperative to engage a student’s interest at the beginning of the lesson and to not put study exercises in the engage phase! young learners need a different approach to adult students as the motivation levels, attention span, and reasons for learning english can be very different. The behavior and attitude of the teacher is the single most important factor in a classroom and can have a major effect on discipline. The most important thing that I have learnt is to have fun with english teaching and I intend to do so by using games and fun activities in all lessons! My aim is to ensure that my students have fun learning english.
