TEFL 120-hour Course - Unit 11

In this TEFL video journal entry, Chantelle talks about unit 11 of her online course. Unit 11 deals with the two receptive skills reading and listening. The unit discusses the different reasons we have for reading or listening and outlines the different ways we do this such as skimming, scanning etc. The unit also outlines ways to overcome problems students may have with reading and listening and provides a sample receptive skills lesson plan.

Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching. This convenient, highly structured design means that you can quickly get to grips with each section before moving onto the next.

The section on phrasal verbs was a bit challenging. It will take some getting used to, before I can start to articulate it. The use of colors to highlight salient points would have made it much easier to follow the concepts. This Unit is what I would classify as \"getting into the belly of the language\"...lots of deep stuff contained in it! Overall, a very enlightening Unit! When considering my extensive education, experience, and professional development I am already an established teacher. I was interested in reading this unit because I'm always looking for new ideas to keep students engaged and allow for differentiated instruction. I found that this unit was more directed to new teachers or teachers that have not had very much time in a classroom.
