EFL Sample Lesson - Study Phase - Questions with Modals

 

This video is a sample EFL lesson in a real-life classroom setting abroad. In order to have a successful activate phase of the lesson, the teacher gives clear instructions to all students. Then, the activate activity starts and the students go around the classroom to "find someone who" fulfills various statements on their worksheet.

While a lot of this stuff isn't new to me as I went to many classes that utilized at least one of the equipments mentioned. I think understanding it from a teachers point of view, especially with prep work is important. I can understand intuitively how to go about using the equipment but actually remembering a checklist of what to do before the lesson even starts is crucial.This unit was all about the different students we will teach and what we need to teach them. It is a good idea to have a needs analysis of the adult students in order to tailor lessons that will benefit them in their work. Children are the most rewarding students and are like sponges. We need to be careful that we engage them in fun activities so they do not become bored.
