Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching. This convenient, highly structured design means that you can quickly get to grips with each section before moving onto the next.
This unit covers conditionals and reported speech. There are five main conditionals; zero, first, second, third and mixed. Some teaching ideas for conditionals are split sentences, complete the conditional, chain conditionals, what a question, nuclear bunker role play and what would happen if. Reported speech and direct speech mean changing tenses when reporting the speech. What I learned in this unit is to give clear objectives. That is something applicable in what I do as an online teacher. Even if my learner does not see me, if the objective is clear, there will be no or minimal confusion, and we will be able to achieve our goal at the end. I also liked what was said that giving praise, praise, and more praise will motivate the learner more.
