CELTA: Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages
CELTA is an internationally recognised professional teaching qualification that is common in the field of teaching English as a foreign or second language. The course is designed for potential teachers with little or no classroom experience and is therefore considered an entry level qualification in English language teaching. CELTA courses can be taken in a variety of locations as they are individually organised and designed by different language institutes worldwide. The content of each course may have slight variations depending on the provider, however, the fundamental specifications of the course are provided by Cambridge ESOL which is a branch of the University of Cambridge.

Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching. This convenient, highly structured design means that you can quickly get to grips with each section before moving onto the next.

In this unit,I learnt a lot on the importance of lesson planning. The examples given in the unit material is very useful to beginners in teaching. Having a basic understanding on how to plan lessons and information which should be included in the lesson plans is very important to both students and teachers. I now have ideas of making my own lesson plan and will practice on this.In this nineteenth unit, we learned about teaching special groups. This was a good unit to cover because it gives detailed information about approaching students at the beginner and individual levels. It is important to have an awareness of how to prepare for these situations and I feel that the lessons learned in this unit have reinforced my understanding and future approaches.
