Pronunciation and phonetics are complicated topics, but still need to be taught to students. there are many approaches. In my opinion, teaching pronunciation as you go along is the best way, and could be supplemented with specific instruction from time to time. Phonetic script is one way to learn pronunciation, but the student would need to have a dictionary to use it.The information in this unit accurately reflects my experience learning French, German, and Japanese and therefore only told me what I already thought about the uses of materials in language learning classrooms. It was useful, however, to have my pre-existing opinions validated by the course and to see some examples from which I can draw as I move forward as a teacher.
