Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching. This convenient, highly structured design means that you can quickly get to grips with each section before moving onto the next.
This unit was a very detailed account of Phonology. I learned about stress rhythm and intonation and why it is helpful to understand. There were helpful charts that showed the meaning of stressing syllables within a word. I also liked having the list of the phonemic alphabet and its symbols. This unit also discussed the science behind linguistics which I thought was ver interesting. This lesson has shown me there are multiple outlets to use as resources for teaching English. Relying solely on text books may not be the most beneficial to students. Using additional materials can help to keep the students interested and give them a better grasp of the language. Authentic materials can also help to keep the students become better acquainted with modern language.
