Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching. This convenient, highly structured design means that you can quickly get to grips with each section before moving onto the next.
In this unit we covered different techniques that could be used in a class to teach young learners. The techniques included games, stories, songs, crafts and seasonal activities which can be used to teach young learners different language skills and be used to practice what they know. These games can make the lessons more fun which will help students engage and learn. In unit 3, I've learned that there are many different methodologies and theories when it comes to teaching a language, and that they all come with their own unique functions and focuses. However, the most interesting thing I learned was about the ESA methodology, which gave me an easy-to-understand breakdown of how to get a student engaged, focused, and participating.
