TEFL 120-hour Course - Unit 2

In this episode of Chantelle’s TEFL diary she takes us through her experiences with the second unit of her online TEFL course. Unit 2 of ITTT’s 120-hour TEFL course focuses on parts of speech; nouns, verbs, adjectives etc. As Chantelle points out in her video, having a basic understanding of the rules behind parts of speech is an important part of being an English teacher and is something that many native speakers of English take for granted. Although, as native speakers, we may instinctively know when and where to use the different parts of speech; understanding how to explain the rules to an English learner is a very different matter.

Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching. This convenient, highly structured design means that you can quickly get to grips with each section before moving onto the next.

After reading the final unit, I realized that in every class that I will teach, there will most likely be problems arising with the students. However, after reading this unit, I have a good idea of how to solve the problems and make sure that the students are having fun, but also learning at the same time. I am excited to have the opportunity to teach young children.Unit 3 talked about theories, methods and techniques. I was already very familiar with Task-Based Learning, Communicative Language Teaching and Presentation, Practice and Production. Those are the three methods I generally use in my classroom. The lesson planning information will come in handy. I loved all of the game suggestions and I plan on using them in the future.
