OTP English Lesson - Richard - Second Conditional Activate Phase

"In this video, our OTP trainee Richard does a fun board game activity with his students on the second conditional tense for the activate phase. He is also walking around listening to the students speaking and giving feedback on their grammar usages. ITTT's Observed Teaching Practice courses (OTP) are ideal for teachers wanting to improve their teaching skills remotely from anywhere in the world."

Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching. This convenient, highly structured design means that you can quickly get to grips with each section before moving onto the next.

In this unit we went over some key concepts about teaching vocabulary, grammar and some of their functions. This included selecting certain vocabulary to teach determining if it would be appropriate to the task at hand, and how to engage the students in learning. The unit followed a similar structure for grammar, and discussed some ESA ideas relating to both topics. This unit covers another grammar component, conditionals and reported speech. We covered each conditional - zero, first, second, third and mixed. I thought a valuable part of the unit was the teaching ideas for conditionals, specifically chain conditionals and questions. We also covered reported speech and direct speech and how the tenses change in all conditions.
