This video is part of our series on "Theories, Methods & Techniques of Teaching". In this episode, we a teaching methodology called 'The Silent Way'. It was developed by Caleb Gattegno in the 1970s and uses a constructive approach.

This unit provided a refresher of English grammar. It was an excellent review of the various parts of speech and terminology. It was helpful to have to work through on the tasks how to describe each part of speech and think of examples. It is one thing to know how to read and write the English language, but being able to convey it to others is a different matter.Unit 2 provided an in- depth look at the different parts of speech of the English language. There were many grammatical nuances and parts of speech that I had never formally learned about before, such as what a “gerund” is. This unit was enlightening, both because it filled gaps in my own knowledge, and because it taught me how I should teach these topics.
