Theories, Methods & Techniques of Teaching - ESA Methodology

This video is part of our series on "Theories, Methods & Techniques of Teaching". The ESA methodology is one of the most advanced teaching methodologies to date. It was developed by Jeremy Harmer in 1998 and combines all the positive things of all the previous teaching methodologies into one.

Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching. This convenient, highly structured design means that you can quickly get to grips with each section before moving onto the next.

For teachers and students this unit are very important, as here are given tips about teaching young learners, beginners, business English and one to one teaching. Those categories are specific and require teaching skills and certain level of psychology awareness. Also very important for students mental motivation and keeping the same motivation during study process. This unit covered the key points of pronunciation and how to teach it in class as well as going in depth about phonetic script in English to further show ways pronunciation can be taught. This unit gave me a greater view of the many difficulties in teaching pronunciation and from now it will make me think carefully how I teach students to pronounce words in lessons.
