The Past Tenses - Past Simple - Mill Drill Activity

This video is part of our series on the past tenses in English. We start off the series with the past simple tense. In this video, we show you how to execute a mill drill activity for this tense. Here, the teacher provides the students with a survey or questionnaire with statements in the past simple tense. The students then go around the classroom and ask other students about their past experiences.

Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching. This convenient, highly structured design means that you can quickly get to grips with each section before moving onto the next.

This is the first unit and I now have a better understanding on hat it means to become a good teacher. This also made me aware of what I need to do to improve and use less teacher talk time.I also can relate to the learners and need to be more sensible on what they are in class for. In the meantime I also learned on the framework and were to place the students in the class.Unit 15 covers evaluation and testing. I learnt about all the different kinds of tests and why each type of test is needed. Placement tests and diagnostic tests are very similar. External examinations are sometimes necessary for ESL students if they want to achieve acceptance into overseas universities. There a number of external examinations, including TOEFL and Cambridge.
