Evaluation and Testing of Students - Diagnostic & Progress Test

This video is part of our video series on "Evaluation and Testing of Students". In this video, we look at the diagnostic and progress test. A diagnostic test gives the teacher information about the students' current strengths and weaknesses, while a progress test is usually held multiple times during a course covering all the material taught up until that point to check understanding.

Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching. This convenient, highly structured design means that you can quickly get to grips with each section before moving onto the next.

This unit was a difficult one for me. I had to ensure i had a thorough understanding of the first topic before moving onto the next one. I felt that the phase that interested me the most was the \"engage phase' as i believe working with the students makes it easier for the teacher to understand them on a personal level and helps the student to identify more with the teacher.I was not really sure what I wanted to do for my \"gap semester\" however, As I progress through this program, I am fascinated with the intricacies that are involved in teaching. It is similar to being a student, you not only have to know the text, you must also know the methods of learning and teaching! I really think that you have a teacher in the making with your program.
