Evaluation and Testing of Students - Diagnostic & Progress Test
This video is part of our video series on "Evaluation and Testing of Students". In this video, we look at the diagnostic and progress test. A diagnostic test gives the teacher information about the students' current strengths and weaknesses, while a progress test is usually held multiple times during a course covering all the material taught up until that point to check understanding.
Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching. This convenient, highly structured design means that you can quickly get to grips with each section before moving onto the next.
This unit was certainly of one the more challenging modules to wrap my head around. I was left a little disappointed with the fact that the unit teaches you and gives you examples on modals/phrasal verbs etc. but there are no real techniques taught to be able to pass this knowledge on to a foreign speaker, my advice would be to add teaching techniques to the unit.In Finland it takes six years to come a teacher. In our universities you have to study 4 years and 2 years pedagogy. Basic rules; obligation, possibility / probability, permission / prohibition, ability and advice helps a lot when teaching English. Active and passive voices weren't so clear before for me. Relative clauses and phrasal verbs were good to understand.
