Regarding Conditionals, they have four ways to use them. 'Zero Conditional', it is used for referring to actions and facts that are irrefutable. 'First Conditional', it is used to talk about a 'real' situation in the future that is possible, probable or even certain, once the condition has been satisfied. 'Second conditional', communicates a present or future 'unreal', hypothetical situation that is presently not true and is unlikely ever to be true. 'Third conditional', refers to a hypothetical past action (or non-action) and the hypothetical past consequence/result. As the 'action' was purely hypothetical, the condition could never been satisfied, and subsequently the consequence is or was impossible. 'Mixed Conditional', it is a mix of the second and third conditional clause. This mix refers to a hypothetical past action or state, and the hypothetical present consequence. Regarding the reported speech, as the name suggests, is to tell somebody what other person has said. About this topic, students must be careful with the verb tenses. On page 6 of this unit's PDF, there is a box that we might show to our students in order to warn them about these changes from direct speech to reported speech. Also, students have to be careful regarding words like 'tomorrow' or 'yesterday'. Because, in reported speech, have to be changed by: "following day" or "previous day". Personally, it has been always my thorn on the flesh as an English student. I feel like I must watch again the video produced by this company. Because it has really helped me a lot. It helped to to understand better conditionals and reported speech. Because, in my case, I make up the sentences naturally as I go without knowing why I use this or that tense. But thanks to the video and other grammar books, I feel confident to master these topics in a way that I can masterfully explain to my students and not feel confused.
