I have heard of the TOEFL and IELTS exam before, but never knew how varied and diverse all the different proficiency tests were for English. This unit also focused on the need to evaluate students, the different kinds of tests given to do so, and the reasoning behind each kind of test. Tests seem to be a necessary evil when it comes to learning, especially with learning a language. Nonetheless, this unit gives detailed and logical explanations for why testing should be conducted, which I found useful, since it gives me context as to why I am getting tested in my own languages classes.
