The unit taught me about vocabulary, grammatical structure and language functions. It also contained various suggestions / ideas on how to teach vocabulary, grammar and language functions to students. The unit provided guidance in helping me understand the factors I need to assess in teaching vocabulary, grammar and functions to students, such as frequency and appropriateness, among others. It also provided help in understanding the factors that might determine how easy a student can learn a new vocabulary, such as similarity to English words he / she already know, and similarity to his / her own native language. The unit also helped me in providing examples of the types of activities which can be done in class during the Engage, Study and Activate phases.
