This unit discusses various groups or kinds or learners an ESL teacher may teach. These groups range in kind from beginners to Business English learners. These two kinds are not mutually exclusive. There may be some beginners in a business English class. Adults may be at a beginner level, too. And some children may be more advanced in their English level than adults. Someone who is less comfortable getting silly in the classroom may benefit from teaching an adult who is a beginner, because adults are more capable of focusing on grammar and can stay sitting and focused for longer periods than children.
