As a teacher of very young kids, I'm mostly focusing my lessons on listening, the reading part consisting mostly of phonics and short words given as examples, but both come with their comparable hurdles. The main goal is to keep the students interested, be it with pictures, movies, songs, or books, that are both relevant to the students level and interests, and to the content being delivered. This can be difficult when teaching students from different cultures, where both written and spoken language differ considerably from English.
