I learned that unlike regular schools and universities where testing and exams are a big part of determining success is not as important in language schools. Rather than just aiming to memorize and score high on tests, language schools have a variety of tests that focus more on learning the language, retaining it and improving. Using placement tests and diagnostic tests, rather than having it to measure students only, it is also used to help the teacher arrange the class to meet the students needs. Also, external exams or tests are practiced but not given at language schools so the students get used to the test.
