This unit concentrated on the productive language skills, speaking and writing. It was mentioned that writing skills often get neglected in TEFL classes because teachers like to spend class time encouraging speaking. I found this interesting, because in my many foreign language classes we always had to do many writing exercises, so my writing and grammar were very good, but my speaking always lacked fluency. I’m glad this course puts a high emphasis on encouraging fluency, as I believe this is the best way to learn a new language, and I know this from my own experience. The different games and creative activities mentioned in this unit are also extremely helpful and sure to create a fun learning environment for the students.
