The number one thing I have taken away from this unit is how complex English grammar really is. Even though I am a native English speaker, it took me significant time and concentration to fully understand the concept of each present tense, and the differences between the four present tenses. Although I remember learning about these tenses in school, I now have a much better understanding of when to use each tense and how to differentiate between them. After reading this unit, I can understand why this is one of the more challenging aspects of English grammar to teach to English learners, but with my better understanding of the tenses I am confident I will be able to teach the them successfully.
