UNIT 5 discusses various techniques, “do’s” and “don’ts” of classroom management. The importance of allowing the students talk time -time to experiment, practice and correct each other- is something that I hadn’t fully realized. I intend to prepare more activities where the students are grouped in small groups and in pairs, rather than the whole-group and individual work that I’ve been doing with them up until now. There were a few other tips that stood out to me, in particular: not handing out papers while giving explanations, not yelling, being consistent with terms and using lower-level language in presentations.
