Reading and listening, are two of the four basic skill in language
When we read, there are two main reasons why we do so. It is for a purpose ; to achieve a goal or it is for entertainment , as a pleasure.
As we read and listen, to understand the context, we use our expertise in the following diverse areas. Areas such as predictive skill, getting the general idea of a text, predict the topic by reading the headline, or even by scanning the information that we hear or read.
