Authentic materials are things that a native speaker might read or hear. They are real and more interesting and allow students to gain confidence. Created materials are supplementary materials created by the teacher and can be graded to the level of the students. These may include crosswords, flashcards, picture stories, and role-play cards. Course books are published sets of materials. They are easy to use, but may be limited in addressing the specific needs of a class, so teachers may need to supplement, replace, and adapt material.
