Unit 16 is about conditional and reported speech. It was extremely eye opening for me to realize how much these 2 areas encompass everyday language. There are five forms of conditionals: zero (absolute facts), first (dealing in probable futures if conditions are met), second (dealing in hypothetical present or future situations), third (to do with hypothetical past actions and results), and mixed (combining elements from second and third conditionals to create something new). Reported speech has to with telling someone what another person has said. Each verb tense has a proper change when it becomes reported, and it is important to keep verb tense continuity throughout the reporting verb and the reported speech.
