In this unit I learned some practical ways to manage a classroom. This unit brought to my attention things that I would not have considered in thinking about classroom management such as eye contact, writing on the board and how to use students’ names. The list of practical ways to establish rapport with your students was helpful. I especially liked the ones, “Look as if you enjoy your job.” And “Don’t forget to smile.” Also it was a good reminder that with bad behavior there is usually an underlying cause such as problems with family life. I agree that it is best to prevent problem behavior as much as possible. Making interesting lessons and treating students with respect are extremely important.
