Unit 11 focuses on the receptive skills (listening and reading). I learned about the two different purposes of listening and reading which could be for entertainment purposes or for a specific purpose. The unit also explains the skills used to understand concepts when reading and writing such as predictive skills, skimming, scanning, detailed information, and deduction from context. I also learned about problems with listening and writing and potential solutions. Finally, the unit covers how it looks in a classroom to teach predictive skills and provides an example of a ESA lesson plan.
