I have learned that there are 12 tenses. There are three "main" tenses: the past, present, and future with each of these tenses containing the simple, perfect, continuous, and perfect continuous form. Most importantly, I have learned the usages for each of these tenses and common mistakes students make while learning them. It is important to think of in advance the mistakes that the students will make and to be able to provide a reason as to why it is incorrect.
