This unit was a pretty difficult one for me. It is often that people who are native english speakers do not take the time to understand why exactly we speak the way we do. Like me, for example. Before this unit in some of my lessons I found myself having a hard time explaining to my students how exactly to say different sounds as well as how the mouth needs to be positioned; after this unit I feel a lot more confident in this area. Despite the challenges I faced in this unit I really enjoyed learning something new, being the phonetic script. Beyond the fact that it looks and pretty much is like another language it is very interesting how it can help someone break down the sounds of a word perfectly. Learning about phonetic script was definitely my favorite part about this unit. I cannot wait to apply it to some of my future lessons.
