I learned that the two productive skills for learning a new language are speaking and writing. Even though they are very different in practice, they are both used to communicate. I also learned the difference between accuracy and fluency. Accuracy is concentrated on producing correct language. Fluency allows the students to experiment and be creative with the language.
Even though they play out differently in teaching, they carry equal importance.
