In this unit the main focus was on ensuring that grammar, vocabulary and language functions are taught in a appropriate and efficient way. Appropriate in terms of choosing the vocabulary that students will find most useful and will ensure fluency. Words that useful, important and widely used should be learned first. Grammar must also have a clear purpose. Students must know how it is used spoken/written and when to use it. Finally language functions must also be clearly defined to help students know when to use what type of language and in what situation. This unit helps me understand the different ways to teach language and the possible ways to manage the class to teach each section efficiently.
