This unit discusses different types of teaching materials (authentic and created) and their use in the classroom. It was interesting to find out that some experienced teachers despise textbooks and prefer to find/create their own materials. Such materials are often more up to date, relevant and interesting for students. However, many students expect the use of a textbook and like to use them a reference to keep track of their progress. Therefore, I think that ideally it is better to use some form of a textbook, even if it is reserved for homework tasks.
