The teachers need to evaluate their students English good or bad,need to know what content they don't understand and hold it.I always use test to assess my students language level.Because it is very useful for my work I will give tests at different stages in a course.Teachers can use different types of testing and evaluation tools,such as placement tests,progress tests,diagnostic test,practice tests.I think general external examination is good for students,such as TOEFL and BEC according to what do you need,you can choose it.
