I learned that there are four basic skills in any language- reading, writing, listening and speaking- and that all skills are equally important. In this unit the receptive skills, reading and listening, are discussed. I learned some basic keys to success in teaching receptive skills. Some of those keys are choosing material that motivates and interests students, build interest before reading/listening, pre-teach complex vocabulary or grammar structures, and vary the type of material.
