In Unit 17, teaching aids within a classroom are discussed. Teaching aids can take many forms such as the whiteboard, interactive whiteboard, overhead projector, visual aids, worksheets, cassette players, video cameras, DVDs, computers, dictionaries, etc. All of these aids can help a teacher improve their lesson and aid in comprehension for the students. Each student learns differently, whether it be through visual, auditory, or both, and these teaching aids can ensure that each student is understanding the lesson being presented. A teacher should prepare their lesson with such teaching aids, but not rely on them. It is important that a teacher keeps the integrity of their teaching, but uses teaching aids to further help comprehension. A balance of teaching aids and lecture from the teacher can help keep the students engaged and interested.
