This unit explains how to organise and manage a class in order to maintain control of the classroom. Maintaining control does not mean dominating the class with teacher talk time, but rather ensuring that the each lesson flows smoothly to create and relaxed environment conducive to learning. The most important factor when it comes to controlling a class is teacher student rapport. Failure to create a rapport with your students will almost certainly lead to discipline problems and an eventual loss of control. Good teacher student rapport can be established by learning each students name, showing interest in each student and their opinions as well as giving equally attention to each individual i.e not playing favourites.
