The videos were a big eye opener. The attitude of the teacher has a big impact in making the class comfortable for the students and encouraging interest in the language. Simple acts from the teacher such as introducing his/her name, learning the students'names, smiling, encouraging confidence and being patient can go a long way in creating a healthy and positive classroom environment. Being clear and concise and taking things at a comfortable breathing pace can also help students build their confidence in the lesson. In the first video, the teacher was rude, discouraging, insulting and in a rush. This created an intimidating, scary and confusing reaction from the students. In the second lesson, the teacher smiles, was positive, patient and kind and was not harsh. This encouraged the students. What I learn the most from this lesson is the importance of attitude in encouraging students.
