In this section, I the first thing I learned a lot about was different methodologies of teaching in a classroom. There is no one way to teach, and I think it is important to consider all available options, especially depending on the class and the level that the students are at. Each kind has its place, and can be useful in any stage of a given lesson. Students need as much exposure to the language as possible, they need input, and should be encouraged to learn as much as they can for themselves so it will stick. The book went into detail about how the ESA teaching method has effected teaching English and the benefits of doing so. Engage, Study, Activate allows for learning concepts and ideas, specific grammar and meaning, along with encouraging participation from all the students. The unit gave helpful examples of each of the ESA steps and how they can be incorporated into a lesson. Finally, the unit talked about proper ways to correct, individualize, and guide students in the right direction for learning. It also talked about techniques and how different people in the class have the chance to correct as well.
