This unit covers teaching pronunciation and phonology. It emphasizes intonation and stress. For intonation it discusses rise/fall, fall/rise and flat, and what each may indicate. For stress it discusses what words in a sentence should be stressed for the intended meaning. For words it gives some general rules on which syllables should be stressed. Techniques for teaching both are given. Sound joining and linked speech are also covered. Finally the International Phonetic Alphabet and articulation are covered.
