This unit so far has been the most difficult to grasp. In everyday english language we use these tenses so effortlessly. When I learned the proper rules and uses for each present tense it was hard for me to attach the names of each present tense to the correct situation. I believe that these rules need to be drilled over and over again to get right. English is unique in that we use so many different rules to denote time and whether or not the subject matter is still happening. I particularly had trouble remembering the present perfect tense because it connects events from the past and present. I believe that students will need to have some rigor in learning these unique rules of English to achieve fluency myself included.
