This unit on "Troubleshooting" was important because it dealt with authentic situations and difficulties that will at some point face the EFL teacher. If the teacher is prepared beforehand, he/she will have confidence in identifying and attempting to resolve such problems using the skill set acquired from studying this unit. Whether such issues have to do with organizing the first lesson and understanding what the essential elements should be included; the need to use warmers to get the lesson off to an interesting start; using differentiated instructions in a class setting that has varying levels of language learners; strategies to managing a large class; dealing with students who are reluctant to speak the new language or dealing with situations where students have difficulty listening to text, among other issues. Troubleshooting before the actual problem exists is definitely the most effective way to handle difficult EFL classroom situations.
