Unit 10 showed a side by side comparison of effective and non-effective teaching practices, via video of real life classrooms. The attitude of the instructor was noticeably affecting the student’s willingness to participate in the class activities and respond to questions. Creating a comfortable setting in the classroom will give students a better learning environment and allow the teacher to have a better rapport among the students. One of the very obvious characteristics of the teacher in the second video was the way the engaged with students at the beginning and end of the class. He introduced himself and then went around the class and had each student introduce themselves, which serves as an ice breaker for the students and gets everyone talking.
