There are all ages and levels of learners, with many different factors motivating them to seek to learn English. In order to be an effective teachers of English I must be kind and patient, but I must also know the level of my students so that I provide the appropriate level of guidance and challenge. If I am teaching in a group setting, I must know how to effectively manage my classroom, to ensure learning is taking place. I must also make sure that all students have the opportunity to participate and show understanding. It is important that your students respect their teacher and this can happen by treating all students fairly and with respect, by ensuring class begins on time, and by preparing fully for all classes.
