From this unit I have learned the ways we can teach a new language by breaking it up into three main groups. Vocabulary, Grammar and Functions. We can easily apply ESA lessons to introduce our students to the language. Lessons in grammar or vocabulary would commonly, but not always, be taught using the "straight arrow" method, while language function based lessons more commonly use a "boomerang" or "patchwork" approach.
To learn a new language, a student must be exposed to it, understand its meaning, understand how it is constructed and be able to practice it.
We are generally guided by school or course books, and the level of grammar and function we teach is determined by the class level and the syllabus. The same cannot be said for vocabulary as the words we choose to teach will be determined by their appropriateness to the students and the task, their teacherbility and the frequency with which they are likely to use them.
Our ESA lessons can be tailored to any age group or language level.
