Course materials can be both teacher-generated and also from the course book. The course book has advantages in that it is tested and measurable syllabus, and it can offer some great ideas for teachers who are in need of guidance for their classes. There are disadvantages in using the course book however, as it is not specific to the class but instead more general, and this means that some of the content may not be relevant or suitable for a class. For this reason it may be good to use the course book as a guide, take the relevant teachings from it, but also supplement or add in other teachings and authentic material that may be relevant for a class.
