Overall this unit discussed the relationship between students and teachers, and demarcated: the various levels of English language learners as defined by European and American standards; the motivations for various levels of English learners; the qualities of a good teacher, including his/her motivations; the qualities of a good student; and the various age and cultural differences among English language learning groups that may present a variety of challenges and/or opportunities for teachers of English as a foreign language. The fundamental idea here was to generate an understanding of the various dynamics that can create or detract from a productive learning environment for TEFL.
