This unit showed the different ways that one could manage the classroom. It showed how one could correctly use eye contact, gestures, and voice appropriately to keep the lesson flowing smoothly and to help reduce the TTT. This unit also addressed other factors, such as the arrangement of the students either in traditional, horseshoe, or roles. For smaller classes I personally like the horseshoe because I can easily interact with my students and they can interact with me and their friends. I personally dislike writing on the board because my back is then turned to the students, but this unit has given me some other options, such as preparing before the time and then covering it.
When it comes to discipline in the classroom, I realized a long time ago that getting angry doesn't help, because it you shout you loose the students respect. Being punctual and well prepared always helps me to start my classes in a relaxed way and the students are also visibly more relaxed when I am calm.
