This unit covered the teaching of there different components of language: vocabulary, grammar, and language functions. It brought back and reinforced the preferred Engage-Study-Activate (ESA) methodology and demonstrated the ways that ESA (including the Boomerang and Patchwork variations) could be used to teach lessons for each of the three components. Common to all three was the idea of practicality, usability, and appropriateness to the levels and cultures of the students.
