With the conclusion of Unit 1, comes the acquired knowledge of the qualities possessed, roles that may be taken on, and responsibilities of the teacher and the students. The teacher can take on one of several roles during their time in the classroom. Each role brings something different to the table, but they all have the main goal of seeing the students’ progress successfully in their studies. There are several key qualities that a teacher should possess in order to see their students’ successful progression within their classroom. Good rapport with the students, noting a students’ weakness and helping them work through it without the student feeling discouraged, and able to keep the class consistently motivated are just to name a few of those key qualities. Aside from focusing on the qualities and roles of the teacher, Unit 1 also discusses the differences between language levels of each student. Where at the Beginner level a student will have either zero or very basic knowledge of the language, these students will be starting at the bottom and working their way up to the best of their abilities. All the way up to the Advanced level, where a student will have a strong knowledge of grammar and vocabulary, but now are focusing on more subtle parts of the language while polishing up what they already have learned. One key note to always remember with the students is, every student is different in how they go about learning. Some students may find it easier to acquire this knowledge of a new language while others may find it extremely difficult to comprehend anything they are being taught. A good teacher will be able to reach out to every student in a way that will make the learning process comfortable regardless of how they learn, what difficulties they may have gone through or are going through, and if they are completely unmotivated to even learn. If the teacher is able to reach out to everyone of their students in that specific way, then the experience is rewarding for both the teacher and the students.
